This Web Trading Post is in place to protect the handcrafted worksmanship of traditional Native American craft and jewlery making. These aquired skills are passed down from generation to generation. As the language fades so does the transfer of this valuable knowledge such as birch bark, and bass wood basket making, leather working, bead working, and many of other traditional craft and utensil making skills.
By purchasing a 10 week membership or any product displayed on this Web Trading Post, you are contributing to not only the artists in Native communities who make a livelyhood, but you are also contributing to the development of new interactive language programs which harness the transformational power of technology, such as this virtual Ojibwe classroom. This programing is designed to be more attractive and engaging to the youth, and also to make the langauge and culture more easliy accessible to Urban Natives, in order to accelerate the revival and help preserve and promote the use of Native Languages in everyday life.
